12:12 KJV). One such book is called "Meeting Jesus again for the first time," written by Marcus J. Borg. The book has both strengths and weaknesses that will be
discussed in this paper. Strengths One of the strengths of this book that Borg takes historical scholarship and facts about the life
and existence of Jesus and attempts to paint a very clear picture of the life of Christ. By doing so he attempts to draw away from the doctrines and dogma,
and present Jesus to a modern world based on facts, history, and scholarship. He attempted to show Jesus as a social Jesus, or "social prophet" as he pust it, a
prophet that todays modern world can relate to and feel at ease with. His book does well in showing that Jesus is not just a figure of the past, but
a modern figure, and one that can touch our lives in todays world. WEAKNESSES The book is well worth reading for the
simple reason that it brings Jesus to todays society without extreme dogma and doctrine. However, what may be considered strength in one sense, can also be a weakness to one
degree, as Borg quotes in the following statement. "Believing in Jesus does not mean believing doctrines about him. Rather, it means to give ones heart, ones self at its deepest
