Internet to the system, and relies on HTTP as its primarily communications protocol (Web-Based Application, 2010). These applications are accessed primarily through URLs, or web addresses. Anything with http in
front of its web address is a web application. The most common example of such an application is Google. The advantages to these types of applications is that they can
be accessed from almost any computer. These are run through a web browser or equivalent type of program. Probably the two best-known programming languages for web-based applications are HTML and
Java (Ford, et al, 1997). Computer-based applications, or computer applications, on the other hand, run on operating systems such as Windows, Linux
or Macs OS system. These run on the specific computer and are available only to that station, or computer, rather than being able to be downloaded as in the web-based
