$100,000 advertising budget for the next six months. The question asked here is, what will be the best way to spend dollars to achieve results and to measure the marketing
plans success? Well assume, for purposes of this paper, that the product being offered is Himalayan Salt Lamps (as these are hot-selling
ticket items). These are lamps that provide a delightful atmosphere and healthful benefits (promising to alleviate everything from sinus problems to fatigue). They look nice, too. But how to get
the word out to the population? What is the best use of marketing money for this particular product? Much of Internet marketing
isnt too different from regular marketing -- for a successful marketing campaign, a company needs to give the market what it wants, promote it in such a way to let
the target market know its there, and then distribute the product in a timely manner. The Internet isnt much different, except Web site offer the opportunity to target the market
more specifically by measuring click-through rates and e-mail open rates (Gehl, 2006). One suggestion, therefore, is to invest part of the budget into data measurement from previous sales histories or
analytic reports. Another very important method of sales on the World Wide Web is viral marketing -- in other words, word-of-mouth, but
on the Internet. Basically, viral marketing encourages customers (or opinion leaders) to forward company information to their friends, family, neighbors and so on, with the idea that those friends, family,
