or service that will satisfy the need and second, what it will take to make that user a repeat user. The same concept
is true when it comes to marketing home health care services. For various reasons, the home health care market is expanding and, as a result, more and more home health
care companies are springing up, meaning competition is fierce. "Home health care" also encompasses a lot of areas, from selling products that can be used for health care in the
home (such as walkers, wheelchairs and suchlike) all the way to 24/7 ambulatory, at-home care for a chronic patient. The good news is that marketing techniques presented in the literature
can pretty much be used in any aspect of home health care. For example, its suggested that home health care providers interested in
cultivating ambulatory aids business should adopt a two-tiered program. The first is directed toward physical and occupational therapists and other health care providers; while the second is to develop a
"retail sales methodology" for consumers (Andrews, 2004). Basically, a referral, word-of-mouth network among therapists is an excellent way to go, because these are the folks who are in direct contact
with the patient. The problem with this, however, is that therapists and other health care providers dont necessarily have time to meet with home care representatives, which is why targeting
the end-user through mailings and other targeted methods are helpful. Its also recommended that part of any marketing plan should include information dissemination,
not just about the product itself, but about overall trends, so that the home health care enterprise is seen as a knowledgeable, expert source in his/her area (Andrews, 2004).
