the television, and ads urge you to buy everything from light beer to Ipods. Pick up the newspapers, especially the Sunday newspapers, and a pile of advertising circulars drop out,
brightly colored paper with coupons, sales and other price-enticing features. Those wanting to get away from marketing will sometimes go to a movie, but even here, the promotion is starting
to infiltrate, from the animated popcorn box dancing with a soda (to encourage movie-goers to eat a lot of popcorn and drink a lot of soda), to actual commercials before
the movies. Even in the movies, product placement is a subtle reminder to us that these brands were important enough to be in a supporting role to whatever lead actor
is on the screen. Its hard, these days, not to go anywhere and not be bombarded by some marketing of some kind - price reduction, promotional sale, new packaging or
a new way of distribution. The problem with this is its a lot of information in a society thats already reeling from
information overload. Thanks to 24/7 news networks and digital programming (not to mention the Internet), people can get all the information, all the time, with just a few mouseclicks or
just a touch of a button. Add a company trying to implement a marketing mix for its product into the fray and it can be hard for this product to
stand out. There are some advantages to the marketing activities, however. Because there is so much information out there, marketers are becoming
