these issues. In this paper, the student, who is portraying the role of the manager of potential control functions, needs to
determine how much control should actually be used when it comes to employees and the Internet. The areas in which the manager should consider include
Privacy of personal information. Accuracy and quality of information. Obligations of
organizations created by the use of this information. The question we need to try to answer here is how much control should
be placed over these particular functions above. The thesis that we support is that managers need to take care when it comes to the Internet, and need to exert some
form of control over it, and place mechanisms to help in this regard. Even before the Internet became an official commercial enterprise,
Vint Cerf (1989) noted that the "reliable operation of the Internet," (710) not to mention the correct use of resources when it came to common interests, was important. The reason
for the necessity, at the time of responsible use of the Internet, he pointed out, was because irresponsible use would end up being an "enormous threat" to the "continued availability
to the technical community" (710). Though Cerf, at the time, was talking mainly about the scientific and academic community, his activities and
