as it involves various cultures and traditions. While most Americans believe that love is something that is incredibly important and intricate, other cultures are perhaps more accustomed to learning to
love, or they look at love in a very different way than Americans. But, this does not mean that love is not important, just that it is, culturally speaking,
very different and also often something intricately linked to transnationalism. With that in mind the following paper examines love on a global stage as seen in Romance on a Global
Stage by Nicole Constable and the article Filipina Migrants in Rural Japan and Their Professions of Love by Lieba Faier. Love on a Global Stage In Faiers article
the author addresses how many Filipina women seek some level of success in becoming entertainers in Japan. They are generally hostesses to Japanese business men and demonstrate interest and love
in the patrons of the various establishments. One could well argue that it is very much a modern day sort of Geisha endeavor as the women are trained to truly
pay attention to the men and sometimes this results in marriage for the Filipina women. In reading this article it appears as though these women, trained "to steam and present
(moist hand towels), pour drinks, sit elegantly, sing karaoke, and dance, flatter, and flirt with customers", are also actually learning to love these men because they are constantly taking care
of them and encouraged to get more attention, more requests, and more dates (Faier, 2007; 150). The author also notes "how intimate and cultural meanings of love are produced through
