Our love for our mate is not the same type of love that we may have for our God, and our love for our friends is often different than any of these loves. While there are numerous types of love, it is generally assumed that the predominant ones are called the four loves. These loves are Eros, Philios, agape, and Storge. Interestingly enough, there are many variations in regards to the definitions of these loves, though Agape is always the love of God, or Gods love and thus stands as the most powerful and supreme form of love. With these simple illustrations in mind the following paper presents an annotated bibliography which discusses 12 different articles, essays, or books, that describe one or more of the forms of love. It is a fairly simple article, though one that is perhaps obviously written by a Christian and thus is aimed at a Christian audience. This is evident in the opening lines concerning Eros: "God intended that man and woman should be attracted to each other, fall in love, marry, and produce new life. This is Eros love" (Eros. Philios. Agape.). With the second form, Philios, the author states that "Philios love is a simple love. A friendship type of love. It has its root in the social need of every human being" (Eros. Philios.
