Discussion The purpose of a study like this would be to understand the way in which Louisiana fits into the overall picture of the United States as a trading
partner. Three objectives of the study would be to discover how much Louisiana exports (monetary value); what types of goods the state exports; and the impact of trade on
Louisianas finances. If I were doing the study, Id like to consider one Appendix on a very interesting source I found indicating that Louisiana does a considerable trade
with Russia. The title of the Appendix would be "Louisiana-Russia Trade Relations" and it would list the various products (such as grain) and services (shipbuilding, oil drilling) that Louisiana
exports to Russia (Bongiorni, 2002). Since imports from Russia are currently low, another part of the Appendix could forecast imports over the next five, 10 and 15 years.
The source for this Appendix is an article by Sara Bongiorni. A second Appendix, just for fun, might be entitled "Louisianas Hot Sauces" and show how many bottles of hot
sauce are sold in the state in a year. Id start with Tabascos web site (www.tabasco.com) and go from there. A search for "Louisiana hot sauce" returns 355,000
hits; more than enough information to construct this Appendix. Although it seems frivolous, hot sauce is synonymous with Louisiana and a major part of its culture, so this Appendix
is valuable. Tabasco is exported all over the world. Three tables for this study suggest themselves immediately: the monetary amount of Louisianas exports over a period of years;
