is "a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race" (p. PG), thereby supporting
Darwins claim that mans place within the ranking of his own society is based primarily upon which ethnicity he is inherently and biologically associated. Racial discord has existed virtually
since man became cognizant of the fact that more than one culture inhabits the earth. Since this time, various populations have sought to extinguish certain ethnic populations for no
other reason than to employ cultural dominance, which clearly illustrates how powerful and damaging racial egoism can become. It is nearly impossible to
escape racism, for it exists all throughout society. Where do such harmful and often distorted images originate, and why have they not decreased as mankinds spiritual presence has grown?
If one considers the fact that each person is a product of his own environment, it is easy to see that the influence of his surroundings is critical to
forming his racial image. Attitudes are spread from generation to generation, community to community and person to person; this basis upon Darwins theory clearly illustrates how there is virtually
no way to avoid becoming tainted in a society that harbors and perpetuates negative racial stereotypes. By contrast and through the discourse within
Menands (2002) book, one can readily see that Darwins ideas illustrate how human beings relate to one another by way of antiracism with regard to the social construction of reality,
