was a force of nature. He was a verbal volcano that spewed forth a lumpy, steamy, unstoppable torrent of prose. Death could not stop the furious flow.

and 86 novels (Staff PG). Almost all of his work was set in the American West. He was one of the best-selling authors of his era, with just
