not only humans, but also hippotomuses, modern elephants, and the naked mole rate that do not have bodies covered with hair. This relative lack of hair is such a
remarkable distinctive feature of human beings, especially when compared with all the other primates, that humans have been nick named the naked ape. To address the evolutionary derivation of hairlessness,
we should consider the cause and effect of natural selection. In addition to it hairlessness, the skin of modern human is also different from that of other primates, in that
it has an enhanced ability to dissipate body heat through sweating, and the variation in skin colors (Jablonski, 2004). Human skin also has a great range of genetically determined
skin colors that are present with in this single species (Jabolonski, 2004). All of these particular characteristics are felt to be directly related by most investigators (Jabolonski, 2004).
Most investigators also agreed that these attributes which have been forged by natural selection (Jabolonski, 2004). Thus the loss of hair during the evolution of any particular species, such as
human beings, presents a puzzle. Any explanation for loss of hair must address the general adaptive advantages associated with hairiness. Loss of hair must proceed under more-or-less special
circumstances where the advantages of having hair have become irrelevant or insignificant; and/or hairlessness presents an advantage that outweighs the advantages of having hair; and/or the hairlessness is somehow linked
to some other trait, which carries an overriding advantage (Jabolonski, 2004). Simply stated, it had to be advantageous for homo sapiens to loss their hair or fur or humans
would still be very hairy. Nevertheless, why and when human body hair disappeared, together with the matter of when people first started to wear clothes, are questions that have long
