the external conditions will impact on the supply and demand as well as the overall operations. The company also needs to be aware of the internal environment and how this
impacts on the company. In the course of operations there are many tools that are used, and these may be well known to a company, models such as Porters Five
Forces and a SWOT analysis. However, individual aspects may be seen in the way that have effects that range across different departments and over the entire company. If
we consider a large and very strong company we can consider how their will always be different influences on even the strongest of companies. To examine this we can look
at American International Group. The American International Group also known as AIG is a large company with operations in over 130 countries, and can be seen as one of
the largest international insurance companies (Hoover, 2001). Run by the well known Maurice Greenberg the company is known in the United States as a provider of property, casualty and unusual
insurance (Hoover, 2001). An example of this may be seen in the number of entertainment risk polices the company has taken ion, and the way that it was AIG that
insured the 100th birthday celebration for the Brooklyn Bridge in 1983 (Mason, 1984). The company has a large revenue, and over a third of this comes from international sources
