it is not, it cant be stopped. Becks format in his radio show is to produce unsubstantiated evidence that is linked to logical fallacies, thereby defending his position through
the use of misinformation. The first logical fallacy that is presented by Beck relates to his statement that Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Air stated he would commit
$3 billion over 10 years to fight global warming, and that others who argue the problem but dont pony up the money are hypocrites. The error in logic comes,
though, when Beck states that it is a waste of money to contribute to solve global warming. The fallacy in logic, then, is that others should have contributed to
clean up global warming or be deemed hypocrites when no amount of money can clean up global warming. This is a fallacy of ridicule, by which Beck maintains that
those who dont pay for global clean up are hypocrites, while men like Branson are essentially unintelligent for paying out in the first place. The second fallacy of logic
in Becks argument is one of exaggeration, when he states that none of the scientists who challenge the concept of global warming get attention in the media or grant money
to continue their studies. If this were true, then these scientists would not even be known by Beck or anyone else. When Beck, then, describes the "other side"
of the global warming argument, those who believe it exists and should be addressed, are on the "fear-mongering side." This argument is used to place negative connotations on the
statements made by environmentalists, and compares environmentalists to other people referenced as "fear-mongering," including Osama Bin Laden and Ghengus Khan. This fallacy, then, is also a fallacy of ridicule.
