The conservative viewer would beg to object to that bit of wisdom - to Dr. Phils own perceptions - but only momentary reflection reveals the truth of the statement. Perception One individual can face amazingly negative situations on a daily basis and yet find positive things in his life, while another can have seemingly every advantage imaginable but choose to do little but whine that he doesnt have even more. The one complaining that some turn of events simply is not fair probably has little if any room for thoughts on the order of, "What can I do to make this better?" (Or keep it from being worse?). Currently, no group knows this better than many of those who lost everything to one of the recent devastating hurricanes. As one who as lost everything (uninsured and with a mortgage) in the same way, I can testify that it does get better with time and it really is possible to come to see a lifetime of treasures and family "heirlooms" as special things, but things nonetheless. Though losing irreplaceable items is regrettable, the lessons of time include the realization that one can always get more money or possessions. It is time that is both precious and fleeting. Televised interviews with some of those individuals illustrate the value of perception. When confronted with similar facts, some people take the position that all the members of their family are well, healthy and of known whereabouts. ...
