and doctors have told her that she only has a few months to live. Rather than succumbing to fear or depression, Liz continues to face life courage and love in her heart for her fellow human beings. I met Liz on Sunday, May 9, 2012, at a gas station close to my school. Liz devoted her day to filling up peoples gas tanks for them, giving every person who drove into the gas station a $50 gift. I was hobbling around on crutches, having broken my ankle, and Lizs insistence on helping me, as well as others, touched my heart as here was someone helping others during her time of need. Liz says that the thousand dollars she spent that afternoon was joyous occasion for her, which gave her great happiness. Liz indicates that people want to know her secret, that is, how she can remain so positive and upbeat when faced with a terminal prognosis. In answering these queries, Liz relates that fear is the most prominent enemy, not the disease. She points out that fear has the capability of paralyzing an individual, making any sort of action difficult, it not impossible. She admits to having great fear, specifically, fear of chemo, the pain associated with her condition, and simply fear of the unknown. However, Liz also points out that it is up to the individual how to react to that fear. In Lizs case, she reacted by asking questions of her doctors and nurses and did not stop until she received answers, which eradicated any elements that were unknown, causing the fear to subside.
