residents but their numbers are rather limited. In fact, much of Suffolk county is white as well so my interactions with people of other races is limited, at least as
it respects this locale. I also have a residence in Florida, and I travel a lot. When I am away from home, I do meet people of other races. I
do not feel as if I am prejudiced, but there is a part of me that wonders whether or not my upbringing in what Ron Kuby calls "Whitelandia" affects my
perception of people who are not white. I am white and so many of the community members look like me. In fact, when I go to the market, or to
a bar, I rarely see people other than those who are white. In delving into this project, I have been somewhat frustrated as to the lack of diversity and thus,
lack of racial experiences in the community. That said, based on the experiences I have had, and the interview I conducted, I have concluded that there is underlying racism
in the community. Indeed, although there is no direct or conclusive evidence, I do sense that there is a subtle racism in Mount Sinai, New York. It seems that members
of the community treat us well. Do they treat people who are different less well? In general, the people are rather nice here, but there have been a few racial
incidents in the area that are important to note. Although there have been some things to report that are not so nice, it should be said that the majority of
people are seemingly good people. Also, while I do not recall racial incidents in Mount Sinai specifically, it is important to remember that this is a small community. However, as
