a culture which changed significantly over time in response to a number of factors. The archaeology of the land stands in testament of that fact. Indeed, Egypt is
replete with many ancient wonders. Her dry environment has preserved many of her ancient monuments and temples into the present. Features such as the great pyramids of the
ancient Egyptian pharaohs and the sphinx, a two-hundred and forty foot long statue with the body of a lion and a head of a man, attract tourists from all over
the world. What many fail to realize, however, is the time period spanned by ancient Egypt and the number of rulers which played in its history is tremendous.
Throughout its entirety, however, the archeological record serves as a clue to the values and lifeways of these fascinating peoples. Montet (1968) estimates
that there were approximately three hundred and thirty kings who successfully ruled the throne of Horus. Unfortunately, a substantial amount of information is available about only a handful of
these rulers (Montet, 1968). Most often we do not know even such basic details as how long they held the throne or when (Montet, 1968). There is some
historical text which has been deciphered giving some of the details of ancient Egypt. Montet (1968) makes extensive use of the information recorded by Thutmose III, Ramses II, and
Ramses III. He depends equally on the ancient architecture and archaeological record to answer many questions about the ancient Egyptians. One predominant
component of ancient Egyptian archaeology is the temple culture. Indeed, the temple culture of Egypt is reflected in practically all of the Egyptian architecture which has survived the ravages
