Jared Sparks work Life of Benjamin Franklin is a work that is primarily based on Benjamin Franklins work in an attempt to offer up a continuation of his autobiography. The
following paper reviews Sparks E-book. Life of Benjamin Franklin by Sparks: A Review One can get a very good idea of
what Sparks is attempting to do in terms of what the book addresses, in looking at the introduction, or preface, of the work. The author illustrates how "it has been
the authors aim to follow out the plan of the Autobiography, by confining himself strictly to a narrative of the principal events and incidents in Franklins life, as far as
these could be ascertained from his writings, his public acts, and the testimony of his contemporaries" (Sparks Preface). The author is not attempting to illustrate various aspects of Franklins life
that are related to other aspects of his life such as an analysis of his character or his philosophies. It is a work that addresses the actions taken by Franklin
through writing and through other levels of involvement. In relationship to the supporting evidence provided by the author there is, as mentioned,
the evidence that is offered up in the works and various papers of Franklin. He notes as much in the Preface where he states how he uses personal correspondence and
