stress or are supposed to relieve stress. After conducting the life assessment, I noted a number of areas of great successes, including physical fitness, sleep, relationships, and diet. The one area, though, that would have a negative impact on my long-term health, disease prevention and the possibility of premature death is stress. Though my score for the entire assessment was a 20, marking an average healthy lifestyle, I could not answer any of the stress questions positively. In general, I am unable to easily relax, I often feel tense and anxious, and I am not able to cope with daily stress any more than most people. As a result of this problem, there is a notable need for change in order to decrease the negative impacts that stress can have on my health and well-being. Change, though, can be a difficult thing and can in fact increase stress for some people. The strategies presented have been designed with both short and long-term goals in mind in order to reduce the negative impacts of perceptions of change and enhance the opportunities for reducing stress. Short Term Goals The following are some short term goals that Ive identified that could help reduce stress and improve functioning during stressful situations: 1. Start a yoga regimen to help relieve physical stress. 2. Talk to friends about problems to avoid "obsessing" about them. 3. Keep notes on things that cause stress to help with long-term planning. 4. Set realistic long-term goals so that the project of "relieving stress" does not become a stressor. 5. Determine what things in life cause stress everyday. 6.
