has the responsibility for the day to day running of the library and has the powers to allow or prevent the use of the facilities and determine if there are
to be nay charges. This is a power that the manager has the right to delegate to other library staff (Library Rules, 2002). The facilities are available to authorised
users during the published opening hours which vary by the campus and by the day of the week. The manager may determine that individuals or particular groups may or may
not use the facilities, including non university staff or students and may also levy a fee for that service. To access the library users may be required to obtain
a library card which can be produced. If the card is lost then a replacement may be charged for (Library Rules, 2002). When in the library the conduct of
the users is also subject to the rules in place (Library Rules, 2002). This will include the usual courtesies and considerations to other users, such as no disruption and respect
for the library premises and materials. The library will lend out items subject to the current terms. Different items may have different borrowing limits placed in them. For example
materials that are likely to be in high demand may be placed in the reserve collection list (ECU Library Online, 2006). These are items that can only be borrowed by
staff and students of Edith Cowan University and have a loan period of 2 hours for books and 1 hour for unit materials (ECU Library Online, 2006). If an overnight
loan is required this can take place within two hours of closing. Only two items of this type can be borrowed at any time (ECU Library Online, 2006). Limits will
