are some similarities, and while that is the case, it is not as if the three co-exist peacefully in a world that tolerates a variety of ideologies. That is far
from the case. Marxism, for example, is one idea that has been all but eliminated from a world bent on the embrace of capitalism and democracy. With no room for
the ideology, the cold war, the McCarthy era, the Vietnam War and its domino theory, each played a role in the obliteration of communism. Throughout the years as leaders tried
to implement Marxs dream, each did so without consideration for the goals of Karl Marx. Still, Marxism is something adored by academia, but seen as evil by the general populous.
Essentially, Marxism is not a part of the world view. Today, by and large, there seems to be an embrace of democracy, but within that paradigm, are liberal and conservative
interpretations. Theorists generally agree that conservatives and liberals are at opposite ends of the spectrum. The widespread assumption is that these two ideologies are diametrically opposed and thus should be
negatively correlated (Peck, 1996). Yet, the validity of that premise has not been supported with all populations (1996). One however must make a choice if deciding which way the world
is swinging today, or always has. There is somewhat of a misconception that the world has always been conservative. Yet, in prancing through history, one can clearly see that everything
construed as "liberal" today has existed throughout time. The Victorian era was simply an attempt to embrace religion and get back to old fashioned values, but the conservative view was
