specific information about project management and is concerned about small nuances as well as big picture ideas like mission and vision. Hence, one gets both the sense that the author
is a stickler for detail but does not lose sight of what is really important. Lewis (2000) is in fact concerned about definition. Projects must be defined and organized. It
is an idea that makes sense. The author provides a project management flow chart that is easy to use. Indeed, the book overall is well written and provides insight for
novice and experienced project managers alike. One section talks about the career of the project manager which is something suitable for anyone embarking on the career path or who is
already there but needs clarity. The role of the project manager is defined and other key concepts are relayed. For example, the difference between closed end and open end problems
are discussed. The author sees these as past and future oriented respectively. Other attachments to the concepts provide one with a sense that there is a solution to a
problem, but also that the problem must be adequately defined and categorized. In essence, the book is about ordering and originating, something that every project manager should be required to
do. Of course, while the author provides definition and clarity, some of the writing is redundant and too simplistic. One would think that by the time someone is managing a
