A 4 page letter to Senator Bill Frist, M.D., describing a citizen’s view of his inability to purchase health care insurance. A large and growing percentage of the American people are unable to afford any health care insurance of any kind, yet do not qualify for social assistance programs. While those who can afford insurance can buy it and those who live in poverty have full access to public health care programs, many of those of us who cannot afford either health care or health care insurance earn just enough that we also do not qualify for public assistance of any kind. citizens receive good health care for a pittance compared to American health care costs. If it had passed in 1994, Bill Clintons Health Care Reform Act would have provided
similar health care for Americans. However, the Republicans and private industry prevented the passing of the Act, in effect, denying health care for those who need it most.
Since the failure of our representatives to provide a national health care program for all U.S. citizens, we have been plagued with a volley of bills aimed at improving health
care. These are mostly designed around costs for care in the private sector, which in reality is trying to remove itself from this responsibility. These attempts at medical reform
approach the ridiculous. The major failing of our current Congress is that they do not see the folly in their ways. It is a sad fact when
richest nation in the world cannot afford health care for its citizens. For this reason, it is imperative that American citizens utilize their voting powers to seek a socialized
approach to health care for themselves and all Americans. Demographics of The Most Needy
