The Napoleonic Era was a time of tremendous changes in regard to the development of Europe and, indeed, the world as a whole. The world continues to receive inspiration from that era to this day. The interpretation of the exact nature of that inspiration, however, is varied according to time and individual. What is clear is that since the Napoleonic Era one cultural group after another has risen up to proclaim themselves a nation in a national liberation movement which has escalated over time. This movement has been particularly progressive since the French revolution and Napoleons fall. One interpretation of the lessons left behind by the Napoleonic era, therefore, is that Napoleons efforts to dominate others left a legacy of resistance by those that have been dominated. In all fairness, perhaps the most common memory of Napoleon is of him as a phenomenal military strategist. Napoleon was an important person during the Revolution and was named Commander-in-Chief of the artillery branch. His artillery personnel were very professional and had high moral. This made them competent and aggressive. Coupled with high moral and a leader who realized the importance of artillery they paved the way for artillery to become a major factor on the battleground and give rise to the brilliant military career of Napoleon. The French reorganization realigned the artillery units into semi-autonomous groups and placed the well trained artillery officers in charge. These artillery officers were young, intelligent and well trained. They had high moral and were molded by the Revolution.
