increasing awareness of nutritional needs, however. Though the wealth of sound information available about nutrition and health can be daunting, in the end it all can be reduced to
quite simple principles that, when internalized, do not require a great deal of thought or planning to maintain over time. As is the
case in so many other areas of life, it is making the change that is difficult. Living the changes become easier over time. Eventually they constitute nothing more
than daily life and routine choices. a. Describe the three most important things you have learned about your nutritional habits and choices from this course.
The three leading principles learned from the nutritional exercises and study are: (1) eat less; (2) move more; and (3) maintain a balanced diet. a.1. Eating Less
Eating less is misleading; what is meant is that I need to eat less of those things with less nutritional value in favor of
consuming more of those items that carry greater nutritional value. Eating less of some items also can translate to eating more of others, such as reducing intake of meat
and eggs in favor of consuming a greater volume of legumes of various types, which supply necessary protein but also deliver healthy levels of fiber not contained in meat and
eggs. An added benefit is that consuming more legumes also reduces total fat intake. a.2. Increasing Physical Activity Moving more is
