Topic: Formal Writing on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis Age Group: Grades 3-6
I. Behavioral Objective: To create a response to the book through a 2-3 page paper
that describes a major action, the characters and at least one major them. II. Introduction: The students will participate in reading groups in which the book will be
read aloud in parts. The students will also be required to advance their daily reading with 20 minutes of outside reading per day. At the end of each
reading segment (2 chapters), the students will be asked a series of questions about the reading (to ensure comprehension) and will then be asked to place themselves in the story.
Each student will be asked to write a 2-3 page paper in which they become a new character in the story, discuss where they are, where the other characters
are and how they participate in the story. They will also be asked to discuss their response, within the context of the story, to existing views about family, honesty,
trust, and the conflict of good vs. evil. III. Materials Needed: This is a writing section, and so students will only be required to have their books, a
writing implement or laptop, and paper when necessary. Students with special needs will be provided support in the form of a scribe, who will help them flesh out their
