examines the issue of legalized gambling and argues that Americans have the right to the pursuit of happiness, as written in the Constitution of the United States, and for many
that entails legalized gambling. Legalizing Gambling In examining the subject of legalizing gambling we first note that, "Many people pay money to out of state lotteries and go
to...gamble with money that could stay in the state. It could also attract potential tourists to the area. Tourist with money to spend, not just in the casinos, but at
local restaurants, hotels and shops" (Legalized Gambling, 2000). In light of this it seems that gambling would serve the economic position of cities and states very well. Another aspect of
legalizing gambling involves utilizing less police force for the task of arresting those who are into one or another form of gambling illegally. The act of gambling does not really
harm society and as such should be up to the individual. One person argues such, and more, in the following: "What happened to my liberties, my pursuit of happiness. Bookmaking
is an honored profession in England and most other parts of the world..... Not the U.S.A....Ive never understood what I was doing wrong as I stood in front of the
Judge, accused of bookmaking when casinos in Vegas could do the same thing. After all is this not one country... The U.S.A." (Sports Gambling Forum, 2005).
