was the issue of legalizing drugs. As more and more drugs hit the streets and Just Say No programs burst at the seams with effort the idea of legalizing drugs
is moving to the forefront of things to be decided. There is much controversy form a legal standpoint, a moral standpoint and a religious standpoint surrounding this subject and it
only promises to get more intense. The idea of legalizing marijuana first hit the forefront in the 1970s when it was discovered that
marijuana helped alleviate morning sickness as well as the nausea from chemotherapy and radiation. But the furor was short lived and swept by the wayside until recently when there has
been a new found interest in the legalization of all drugs not just marijuana(Incardi 72). Policy makers who want to legalize drugs stand by the belief it will soon be
a matter of public safety(Saum 72). With AIDS epidemic out of control and teens getting involved in drugs before getting out of high school many advocates of legalization ask
how can we NOT (Saum 72)? According to them if the government would legalize drugs it would eliminate many problems that society currently faces(Saum 72).
One of the first things that would be addressed is the Mafia and drug lord hold on the industry. We have all seen on television how dangerous the
world of drug manufacturing and dealing can get. Proponents of legalization believe that if they were legalized the drug cartels would soon be out of business. There would be a
