Paper Store, Enterprises Inc. By - properly! In his article Cloning Misperceptions, Leem Silver dispels popular
misconceptions concerning cloning in the first half of his article and, in the second half, argues that the nightmare scenario of governments attempting cloning on a massive scale for nefarious
purposes is simply not plausible. The ideas that Silver labels as misperceptions in the first half of the essay are labeled accurately, as it is true that it is currently
impossible to replicate an adult human being, complete with that persons consciousness, memories, behaviors and reactions. Clones, using current technology, such as the sheep Dolly, are born in the normal
manner but grow from an implanted embryo that is genetically identical to the individual or animal from which the original DNA was harvested. Having successful dispelled the myth that
cloning can produce a fully-grown human being identical to the donor-parent, Silver asserts that people fear cloning because of the belief that it creates an imperfect copy, which he again
asserts is a misperception. He asserts that this is untrue and that cloned children would be fully-fledged people, not soulless automatons. This argument is accurate, but it is based on
a false assumption, which is that the cloning process has been perfected. Numerous health risks have materialized in regards to cloned animals, such as Dolly. These copies of the original
sheep are indeed imperfect copies. Silver indicates that Brent Staples, of the New York Times editorial board, has warned that clones would be easy targets for humanitys worst instincts.
