an insight on how to treat them in the future if the business wants to gain either greater business or recommendations from them. Knowing the idiosyncrasies of particular customers helps
meet their requirement through a learning process, as do many of aspects of business, from accounting to operation management. The more knowledge is gained the greater the learning, as long
as it can be placed into a context and applied. It is known that in many case experiences is valued and can add a great deal of value to the
skills of any manager. However if the manager understands the cycle they can then enhance it with self learning techniques and simple awareness and create greater value in the experience.
However, this is not a process that requires awareness to take place (Kolb, 1984). There are many theories of how and why this occurs, with Kolbs experiential learning cycle (Kolb,
1984). This can easily be applied to a small business and the way that it is run. The training cycle, as proposed by Kolb, has four main stages, these
all reinforce each other and create a continuous learning cycles. These may be seen in a learning environment, such as a collage or school, they may equally be seen in
large businesses as a basis for training as well as small businesses where mangers may use it to train employees as ell as follow the cycle themselves. The learner,
