they coined the term "learning styles": to describe the ways that learning is possible(Burke 1997). After years of study and research it has been determined that each person has a
way in which they are most equipped to absorb and retain new information(Burke 1997). When one is said to be an auditory learner it means that he learns and
retains best when he receives the information auditory(Burke 1997). If one is called a visual learner that person learns best by seeing the information and if one is called a
kinesthetic learner that person can best retain new material by touching it, feeling it and examining it with his hands(Burke 1997). While
many people have a cross over of two or three different learning styles just about everybody has one learning styles that is a strength for them(Burke 1997). I am a
visual learner with strong kinesthetic tendencies. This means that I retain information that I see or touch much easier and more thoroughly than if I receive it audtitorily.
If I were getting ready to learn about how to use Microsoft Word I would choose online help, the tutorial and trade books to help me in my learning.
Because I am a visual learner first and foremost it would be a benefit to me to go to the online help section. Microsoft Word has one as does
every other program on the market today. The online help section is used through a drop down menu that allows one to choose what area of questions one wants to
see. The drop down menu is easy to read for a visual learner and has a field in which a student can type in the beginning letters of a topic
