ways. More and more we are seeing Spanish language advertisements, there are Spanish radio stations, Spanish television stations, and it is apparent that Spanish is the second most prevalent
language in the United States. THE GROWING MEXICAN AMERICAN POPULATION Many studies including census reports show that the influx of Spanish-speaking people immigrating from Mexico and other countries is
on the rise as never before. In many of the border states such as Texas, there are as many Spanish radio stations on the air as there are English
ones. We are seeing more Spanish-speaking children in our schools and they and their families can be found everywhere we go. Because Spanish is quickly becoming a secondary language
in the United States, it is felt by many that our children need to be studying this language at an early age and continue with it throughout school so that
they will have this important second language at their command. Business managers who have never had to learn Spanish are finding it difficult to communicate with new employees who have
recently immigrated from Mexico. Teachers are having a hard time teaching students who speak only Spanish, and the other children in the classroom are at a loss as to
being able to communicate with these classmates. Of course when we travel we come across Spanish speaking people everywhere, and it would definitely be an asset to have this
language in our repertoire so as to have a more likely chance that there will be a common link of communication wherever one travels. Many people from foreign countries besides
Spain and Mexico also have Spanish as a second language, which would make it easier for the English speaking public to find a means to communicate when on foreign ground.
