there is a potential to enhance effectiveness. Leadership roles can be formal or informal. And in many instances where there is a group working together the leadership role will
fall to one person as a result of the group dynamics even if the role is not formally allocated. In this instance there was an informal leadership to be adopted
as part of a group dynamic, with a group put together in order to organize a social event for the workplace. When assessing leadership style there are a
number of perspectives that can be assessed. The study of headship started by the study of great men in order to identify their behavior patterns, with the belief that of
these were emulated it may lead to great management, this stage of leadership study goes back to the nineteenth century with the work of Galton and extended into the twentieth
century (Borgotta et al, 1954). Trait theory was built on this, but took an approach looking at the traits in general rather than individual leaders. Some traits that are associated
with good leadership include the ability to listen to different views and top have a vision, these are subjective assessments and the leadership style of the student may be seeking
to emulate this, with consideration of others and seeking to listen. However, more inferential may be that of trait theory. Trait theory was built on this, but took an approach
