Organizational change within the clinical environment has the potential to effect not just positive change
but also negative change. When this change impacts mission critical components of clinical operation extreme care must be taken to insure that the transition results in as positive as
possible of an impact. Leadership style is one of the key elements in insuring that this is the case. Mission critical components of
the clinical goal are those aspects of operation that directly impact the health and welfare of patients as well as those aspects that directly impact the ability of the organization
to profit. Both of these aspects of operation have the potential to relate negatively to the other. This presents a difficult situation that must be addressed in the
most effective manner possible. Obviously, organizational change has a significant likelihood of resulting in certain components of the organization becoming mission-critical. Three
scenarios where this might occur include: 1. a transition from a private company status
to a public one 2. bickering and conflict among staff 3. a revised accountability
process. There are, of course, practically a limitless number of scenarios where mission critical aspects
