1. Introduction The concept and practice of leadership is not new, nor is it confined to the arena of business studies. The study of leadership can be seen
in works such as Sun Tzus The Art of War and Machiavellis The Prince (Mintzberg et al., 2008). Both of these texts look at leadership and strategy in a more
political context, but interestingly both have been adapted and used within the business world in order to increase understanding of leadership and strategy and how it may take place. The
study of leadership has accelerated, especially as the need for leadership in the commercial world has increased, with a large amount of commentators grouping of leadership can have a direct
impact on business and the results it produces. Like any other subject of numerous theories concerning leadership, including the way a good leader may be identified as well as the
practices that good leaders undertake. Different models and approaches to leadership have been developed over time, these reflect ideas the time, as well as building on former theories. Three different
approaches that may be considered in terms of leadership, which are at leadership from different approaches and embody different characteristics, but still have some commonalities are the transformational leadership model,
