the other lunch ladies on a journey and accomplish goals, unless she has vision. Leadership is something that a manager possesses that aids in gaining others trust. Each leader
may have a different style. For example, there is the charismatic leader who somehow gains the trust of the people for inexplicable reasons. A charismatic leader often possesses a charm
that captures others and causes them to accept whatever he or she dictates. Examples come in a variety of forms and cult leaders are perhaps the best example. However, one
could also call President Clinton a charismatic leader. In terms of leadership, there are different avenues one can take. There is an autocratic style of leadership, where the person in
charge is simply a "boss." They tell others what to do and expect that it be done. Another path that leaders take is to involve their underlings and some call
that a democratic style of leadership. Then there are more contemporary types of leadership as well. Coveys principle-centered theories have become popular of late. Drawing on a persons integrity, Covey
prompts managers to map out their life courses. Behavioral theories in respect to both leadership and management styles take on a variety of forms. For example, Theory X and Theory
Y divides the technocrats from humanists. In fact, some maintain that the humanists and the technocrats are in battle for the managers soul (Stewart, 1995). Which side will win? The
