laws, employees who are injured on the job or become disabled from such an injury are entitled to certain benefits. The ADA would prohibit the employer from denying the newly
disabled person a job because of the disability (U.S. Department of Labor, 2009). The ADA does not require the employer to provide medical leave or benefits but it does require
employers to make reasonable adjustments to allow the qualified person to continue in their job (U.S. Department of Labor, 2009). The Family and Medical Leave Act was actually enacted to
help people balance the responsibilities for family and those for work. It does so by requiring employers to provide an employee up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave each year
for different reasons (U.S. Department of Labor, 2009). An injury or illness would be one acceptable reason. During the leave, the employer is required to continue providing health insurance benefits
for the employee (U.S. Department of Labor, 2009). Another requirement is that the employee must have worked at that company for at least a year, 12 months (U.S. Department of
Labor, 2009). It is the Workers Compensation laws and regulations that will help the person injured on the job. These laws are determined by each state and they typically apply
to all workers in the state (U.S. Department of Labor, 2009). The specific qualifying criteria and benefits may differ from one state to the next. This means what is covered,
the duration of off-time, the monetary compensation, etc. is determined by state laws. If an employee is injured while working for the company, they qualify for workers compensation. The California
