Americans we are talking about individuals from Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico and several other regions. As such they cannot be lumped together in relationship to their culture. They have differing
beliefs and differing attitudes. However, in many ways their experiences here in the United States are similar to one another, and perhaps even very similar to other cultural immigrants. With
that in mind the following paper examines some of the features regarding the diverse group known as Latino Americans. Latino Americans As mentioned, the group known as Latino Americans
are very diverse. What perhaps holds them together most obviously is their language and also likely their sense of tradition and family values. They are generally a very tight knit
group and support one another and rely on one another to such an extent that acculturation is often very difficult for second generation Latinos. They maintain their language in their
homes, and also outside the home, making them a target for many levels of discrimination. Discrimination is perhaps the most powerful tool through which to examine the diverse people
that are the Latino Americans. Though we like to assume that we live in a society that accepts all people, the truth is that many different cultures experience a great
deal of discrimination from the majority of citizens in the United States. One of the cultural groups which is meeting a great deal of discrimination are the Mexicans and Mexican
Americans. They are generally seen as poor, undereducated, illegal, and a people who are increasing in population at a rapid rate. All of these realities put them in a position
where the majority is angered to the point where discriminatory behavior is part of the American culture. Discrimination towards the Mexicans is a long lived reality in this country,
