have a basic understanding of the cultures involved. For instance, most people recognize that China is one of the worlds oldest civilizations but few Westerners have a good understanding of
their history or culture. Cultural values affect how a Chinese person who has learned English will interpret what others say. The same is true for the British culture. Language obstacles,
due to misinterpretation, can be overcome by employing some rather simple steps. This essay discusses the culture and language of each country and offers suggestions to reduce the impact of
language differences. Introduction This essay will address the difficulties and challenges British workers and managers face as a result of language differences and to present recommendations to overcome
any problems. Prior to discussing the specific issues involved, it is important to know how many minorities are in the British labour force, and more specifically, how many Chinese. While
data specific to the topic seems to be elusive, some data were accessible. These are presented here. There are 329,386 Asians in Great Britain, which represents 0.7 percent of the
