                                                    other and found a common interest. One of the most obvious departures from convention art of the time was in the style they adopted. The style of artists until this  
                                                
                                                    time had been to paint detail, fine brushstrokes hardly visible to the naked eye, landscape paintings were sketched outside and then painted in the studio (Holt, 1986). Care was taken  
                                                
                                                    with shading and forms created to resemble the reality of the landscape painted so that it would be immediately recognisable to the viewer (Holt, 1986).  
                                                
                                                    The style of the impressionists was different, the detail was not as important as the feeling of work, the vibrancy and life within it, as such brushstrokes  
                                                
                                                    were rougher and usually visible, even think and obvious daubs of paint or blocks of colour may be used as well as the colours being more vibrant than the impressionists
