their ordinary plotlines in order to interact and react to characters and situations from other literary works. For example, suppose Willy Loman were to meet up with Charlie Wales from
Babylon Revisited. Would Willy like Charlie? What would his reaction to Charlie be? One would have to think that regardless of the setting that the basic constructs for the character
would not change. Therefore, Willy would not understand why Charlie is not liked better by those around him. In fact, Willy, himself, would probably not care for Charlie in the
least, because in Willys mind, to be liked is to be successful. One can see this exampled in Willys life from beginning to end,
to his relationships with his family (especially his sons). Consider his two sons. One son is the spitting image of his father, while the other has realized what neither Willy
nor Happy has. Biff understands that one can be well liked and still impoverished and wretched. Juxtaposed against his father and brother, he has the most potential for becoming a
success and leading a happy life. Willys attitude toward being liked and being popular do not change at all. This is evident when he says, "the man who makes an
appearance in the business world, the man who creates a personal interest, is the man who gets ahead. Be liked and you will never want"(Miller 21). Consider, in addition to
Willy Loman, the possibility of the characters such as Raymond Shaw, Argon, or Leroy from Shiloh, trading places with John Malkovich. Would they care to? What would they do if
