game of Liars Poker saw two of the top dogs going head to head in a game that was worth millions. Describe how the bond market grew from $323 billion
at the end of the 1970s to $7 trillion by the mid 1980s. In simplest terms, an economic bubble occurred in the late seventies which
came to a head in the early eighties and burst in the mid to late eighties. Part of what made this happen was that Congress created so many new
rules and regulations that they essentially opened up loopholes that the savvy trader could exploit. It turned out to be a game where extremes were met, matched and maxed, all
the while risking hundreds of millions of the firms money. What made Salomon Brothers notorious? Salomon Brothers gained the reputation for creating barracuda like sales
people. The mortgage traders were known for their grit, their resiliency and their stomach for the pressure that typifies the business. Many of the traders became little more than smug
bullies, throwing their weight around and creating underhanded backroom deals. This happens to Lewis one too many times and in the end, when a Salomon vice-president takes credit for a
deal Lewis had engineered, he engineers the VPs downfall by placing only one call. Power. It was all about power. To many of the traders that were created and trained
