level 5 leader. Such leaders came to the public consciousness when business consultant Jim Collins wrote his book "From Good to Great" (Level 5 Leadership). Collins pointed out that Level
5 Leaders are humble and they dont seek success for themselves, but rather, they want success so their organizations can continue to succeed (Level 5 Leadership). Such leaders accept blame
for mistakes and arent afraid to make the tough decisions (Level 5 Leadership). Executive A clearly took full responsibility in making tough decisions
when he took over this corporation. This leader regularly credits others on his team, with the belief that developing strong leaders will lead to continued to success. And, much like
the typical Level 5 Leader, Executive A tends to shun the limelight. Moving on to Leader B, we see a good example
of a transactional leader. The basic assumptions driving transactional leaders are that 1) employees perform at their best with a clear and definite chain of command; 2) workers are motivated
with rewards and punishments; 3) subordinates need to be monitored to ensure expectations are met and 4) the primary M.O. of followers is to obey, obey, obey (Cherry).
Though Leader B has worked for years with Executive A, his leadership philosophy is far from that of his superiors. As a transactional leader, Leader
