in his highly successful career. The ideas of communication, negotiation, organization and time management seem to be foremost in his long list of attributes which contribute to his overall success
as THE director to work with or for. Over three decades Steven Spielberg has risen from the ranks of Hollywood to become one of the most popular and distinguished
directors of our time. Much of this can be credited to his seemingly vast stores of creativity and drive, but it also can be argued that it takes more than
that to rally a film crew around a project and make cinematic magic. For Spielberg, one of his biggest assets as a director is that he communicates with every level
of production. From the grips to the caterers he makes certain that everyone is on the same page and seeing the same vision that he, as the director is. Part
of the reason, one has to think, that communication was such an integral part of his strategy is that his movies tend to break new ground. He was the first
producer to use product placement in his films, with the infamous placement of Reeces Pieces in E.T.. Spielberg also was one of the first to bring the large special effects
to the big screen as had been started earlier by Lucas. In order to pull off large projects, communication is key. However, let it not be said that it has
been smooth sailing for Spielberg, either. There was a time when no one took him seriously and when even after he had attained legendary status that there would be differences
of opinion. Though it has to be stated that Spielberg is not a fan of negotiation, when the project warrants negotiation, it is granted. Granted is the word for it,
