who made all the rules that were unquestioned by employees, was known as the classical style of leadership. The classical style had its outgrowth from the military, by which commanding
officers gave orders, and any backtalk or questions asked could have resulted in insubordination at best and court martial at worst. Disobedience of orders could have led to catastrophes and
loss of life. But corporations and organizations are not battlefields (at least not in the literal sense). As more and more businesses realized
that employees were humans and not necessarily all on the same page, the more leadership theories and models came to the forefront. In
this paper, well examine some of these models and theories, and determine how they might be structured to deal with todays leadership issues and challenges. Leadership Theories and their
Roots The study of leadership and its models is a relatively new one - until the late 18th century, leaders were predominantly military
in nature, with their rule of law basically unquestioned. An agrarian economy and its sometime feudal nature also didnt leave much room for study - feudal lords and kings
more or less inherited their leadership roles. Fledging governments such as those of the United States did put some store on elections, but again, it was mainly wealthy white men,
who were leaders in their society, who ended up being elected to power. As the agrarian economy shifted to the industrial one, however,
