he/she chose was Target Corp. The model essay to be written about this particular company could be as follows. If I had any
company to choose from for my career, it would be Target Corp. Though its based in Minnesota (and it gets cold in Minnesota during the winter), the company itself has
some great attributes that I find very appealing. These include the expansion the company has done, wonderful opportunities for career advancement and the companys contributions to charitable organizations.
I credit a lot of this expansion to Robert Ulrich, the companys former CEO. During his 14-year tenure as Targets leader (from the mid-1990s until
2008), he managed to transform this company from a sleepy discounter based in the Midwest to a company that Fortune magazine considers "one of the most admired and imitated" (Reingold,
2008). Fortune, in 2008, ranked Target 33rd on the Fortune 500, outpacing Microsoft, Pfizer and Pepsi (Reingold, 2008). I think a company that can outpace Microsoft as a highly admired
one is a company thats certainly worth working for, and possibly leading some day. Targets leadership has managed to make its "bullseye" a
recognizable trade mark and Bullseye, the dog, is also enshrined in Madame Tussauds Wax Museum (Reingold, 2008). I know this is probably a small and silly thing, but the fact
that this dog, a mascot for the company, is deemed important enough and popular enough for the honor, is a great tribute to the company. The leadership at Target is
