some hard decisions. Gene One is such a company - the company has made millions through its development of gene technology that
eradicates diseases in tomatoes and potatoes. Though just eight years old, the company is ready to raise still more money, through an initial public offering (IPO).
However, the leader of the company, Don Ruiz, died in the middle of the process and his heirs are descending to take over. The heirs need
to decide what steps to take to move forward. This will require change, especially if Gene One plans to continue with the IPO.
Gene One is a company that can go beyond its current vision and earn more than its current $400 million. The problem, however, is that many of the remaining
executives have some differing opinions about what that direction should be. Researchers Angela and Teri would rather research than placate Wall Street. Angela, in fact, has already resigned because she
doesnt like what the culture of the company is becoming. Teri, who is Dons niece, could also find herself out of a job; though brilliant, Teri is a bit of
a loose canon, and the others are not sure they want her around during the IPO process. Meanwhile, marketing director Charles Jones
is doing a great job of building brand awareness, but hes still raw in some areas. CFO Michelle Houghton is realistic, but is not so bound to the balance sheet
