For years and years, the field of anthropology was considered a male-dominated one. It made sense at the time, as within the
field, most cultures and societies were considered to be male-dominated. For the most part, writings rarely addressed either female roles in societies (other than to indicate that they were subservient)
or even female roles in the formation of anthropology. In this particular paper, we will compare some theories of four anthropologists, Sherry
Ortner, Michel Foucault, Marvin Harris and Clifford Geertz (through the writing of William Roseberry) and determine exactly how feminism is viewed in anthropology. The main contention in this paper is
that there is little to discuss in terms of anthropology and feminism, primarily because the majority of cultures studied and assessed are male-dominated, and studied by men. Docile bodies
