to use. The right decision can positively contribute to the organizations competitive advantage, but the wrong one can be insidiously detrimental. Kudler is right to question the long-term
usefulness of its present system and to entertain thoughts of replacing its piecemeal approach with a more comprehensive system that also can provide useful business information. Data Integrity and Security
Data integrity is crucial (Microsoft Security Assessment Tool, n.d.). Data security is no less important, but neither the business nor users must
have any reason to believe that the data they come to depend on is not accurate. It is not feasible to mitigate all risks that may arise with the
new system. Neither was it possible to mitigate all of the risks that exist in the current, soon to be replaced system. There is greater risk in the
current system than in the new one; and the new system will carry less overall risk. Data and Network Security There are risks
to any electronic information system. Kudler will need to identify all potential risks and take steps to mitigate those risks. There are at least five categories of sources
of risk: * Type of business; * Hardware infrastructure; * Application software; * Operations; and * People (Microsoft Security Assessment Tool, n.d.). Security
risks abound when working with electronic data. Saving checkout data directly to the local server as well as the backup, redundant server will help to guard against data loss.
